Installed 2, chapter 4

go to previous chapter

And so she woke up that morning, the coordinator, and put on an ankle length blue dress.  When she arrived at the pavilion people dressed in many types of clothing had already begun to gather and begun meeting each other; their voices carried like all around the grounds.  She walked past them, up the steps, and entered with a key from her belt.

    "Who leads him?"

"If nobody leads him, and nobody leads him?"

    "Ladies," a greeter said.

    "Gentlemen," he said again.

"Why, look at that building!" (for some of them were from out of country).

Many of them were wearing professorial clothing as she had presumed; many of these type of people would be in attendance.

When she opened the doors to let everyone in, she had stalked the foyer, opened the doors to the auditorium on the north and south ends of the building, and somewhat non-fractiously arranged the hand sanitizer pods facing the entrance.  Her helpers were all at their stations.  And so she disappeared to her office to check her morning email.

The grand entrance was beginning shortly.  She watched from a surveillance camera outside the front of the building pointed down at a roped walkway.

"We're here," said a custodianship of the few alive, mostly dead of Civilisations that have passed.  One of their exceptional subjects was photographed at an art installation of several skeletons inhabiting a coat closet; in a bin with a mop, hanging, and positioned provocatively were they behind him.  For I mean to suggest the dead were present, or at least a picture of them.  He was wearing a red coat and stood out so much with his black hair in front of all the white bones.

Outside were arriving the vehicles of the other delegates.

The first vehicle with the delegates of Civilisations that are active right now arrived.  It hovered above the ground.  There were blue lamps lighting the ground below it.

Out stepped a man wearing a fashion of hairstyle of the black community, holding a scepter, with his date wearing a beautiful dress.  He helped her step out of the car.

Flashbulbs had burst as he first set foot out of the car.  And they continued for his date.

    Onto the Purple Carpet.

The carpet of law, and legal proceedings.  Gathering were they for the Union of Civilisations.

The second vehicle to arrive was the Global versus Geological features of a district of Earth Civilisations.  Decorated with regular lines and shapes, the door opened sideways and out stepped a beauty of magnanimous and wholesome personality wearing a patterned historical dress of geodemographic continents in partial lace.  She struck a pose and proceeded to follow the delegates from the first vehicle.

The third was a land vehicle occupants swung out from the second passenger seat a woman of vigor wearing a red dress.  And from the first passenger seat a man of magnetism wearing a black suit.  They proceeded up the walkway.

Representatives of Alien Civilisations and how our thought experiments about them can help with our own arrived fourth.

    Their tight aircraft spoke.

"You are the key," said a cybernetic genderless voice.  Their vehicle, spoken to the crowd, a door slid open and a ramp descended.  Occupants emerged, both human and alien.  The only delegation to exclude a representative from Earth.

Lastly, Civilisations that have not come to be were arriving from the future and the crowds on both the outside of the roped walkway and inside became more numerous.

With these five delegations arriving, representing civilisation from time immemorial, the Planets sought to unify the cosmos.

The coordinator finished reading her email and returned to the lobby, where people had begun to funnel into the auditorium where the conference would be held.

In the auditorium, the presentation area onstage was set with five round tables and the floor of which which had been offset, lifted away, at an angle to the audience seating so that speakers of all five tables could be seen simultaneously from all directions.  Of course, people could not walk a stage that was on an angle like this and so one presenter was to stand at the back of the stage at a time, from one of the five tables, and suspended by floating wires—gimmicks that enabled the presenters to replace each other at the podium as though swimming midair.  There would be nobody presenting today, the first day of the Union meeting, as everybody was busy meeting everybody, but they practiced sharing the stage in rotation like this.  Familiarisation among the clans was aided by the conversation between the interceding stage members and the audience.  Tomorrow presentations would begin but for now people danced, they talked, they played music for one another, recognizing for once who they would like to duel in battle.  Hosted by all of these celebrities who walked on the Purple Carpet.  All of them would present tomorrow.  And then present again on the third day, as though they had, overnight, changed their minds completely.  In order to offer the most diversity between points of view.

Some of them would even be replaced in order to belay the point that they might as well be talking to another person if they weren't going to listen.  It was meant to evoke a sophistication that, by including as many voices as possible and by moving the major panelists about a tilted stage like this, accomplished an awareness that at the same time for people in doing so replacing each other one at a time.  Made them primed to respect how much time they actually had.  And how to share it.

A spontaneous fashion show broke out when a museum curator wearing moccasins started entertaining everyone.  He climbed onto a pedestal and started dancing.  His stationary position became a flux of energy in contrast with the fashion models, who were not stationary like him.  The coordinator approved wirelessly.

Everyone was kept satisfied for a time.

    The mixing between communities.

As the sun started to set a bonfire gathering at the yard out back of stage was announced, and people deciding whether join others by the fire to speak with outlandish behavior, they saw the smoke rising as a community.  Hot chocolate was being served.  The fire crackled loudly.  Speakers at the fire unanimously spoke about their Path.  The first Path to be spoken about was assisted mobility.  Everyone who had assisted mobility issues had a way to the auditorium and the fire out back.

What I wanted to say about my Path was that I loved a man.  I wanted to kiss him right there.  I wanted to hold his hand.  I wanted to be at the fire with someone affectionately as a couple.  As two men both Axolotls.  And as I stood there thinking I realized I could be that out in public; my total confidence was real.  For the first time.

"My Path is to be a Writer," I said, "for that reason I will speak long because I have trained my mind to know the words which we say.  My Path is simple.  All I want is to hang out at a campfire once in a while.  And since that is provided, I am happy."

"Thank you for speaking with us Writer for you will have much to write about when the conference is ended."

At that point I started writing and texting the visitors at the fire through proximity technology in order to communicate with them.

    "Are you from Canada?"

    "Where was that from?"

    "How did he get here?"

"What kind of alien was that daddy?"

    "A bird kind."

    "A songbird?"

    "Yes."

"Weird we're actually having this conversation?  And I'm writing it?  Well, if it were writing I would say nothing.  But since I'm not it writing I am a subject, a whom.  Writing it."

    "Like a sludge monster."

    "Dude!"

    "Look at me distribute!"

A man played on his flute.

A few men and women gathered to dance vigorously around the campfire holding hands while the music was playing.

    Some were shirtless.

    The music notes especially.

"My dearest campfire recipient warm yourself and Read for I have lately thought of the Internet as a virtual campfire we gather around.  Please offer me company and install yourself, for we go around the sun like Robyn."

"Thank you for writing to me.  It is very different to communicate around a fire using only writing, but I will endeavor to complete the task."

"Thank you.  My path is to receive you.  It is a present.  How are you on this fine night?"

"I am well.  For I have travelled to the Union of Civilisations for three days of intersectionality of types of civilisation."

"I as well have travelled here.  For the food however."

"I see.  And does your species enjoy food?"

"Yes we do.  We prepare it in countless cultural ways."

    "That's beauitful."

    "Thanks."

    "You're welcome."

A stranger joined them at this moment; a tall man, wearing a cloak.

"Thank you for receiving me," he said, "I have prepared to distribute on a number of topics.  Embrace peace.  Turn away from war.  Space axolotls.  Videogames.  What would you like to talk about?"

"Our species has videogames too.  And it is much closer to perfecting it as a category of art than yours."

"It," said the human, with questioning plaint, "well you believe in you.  That's what matters."

It being a matter of law, the interlocuters gathered around the fire perked up and listened in.

"There is Law in the land, for we each have a path," said an Aboriginal man, "and at the campfire we can practice being equal not to one another but to God."

"Why have you said this?  There is no equal to God."

"I have said it because it is true we need to practice being equal to God."

    "How do we do that?"

"We tell God there are no others like us.  In all our actions.  And that we can't be equal to him because we are far better in quality for being the quality that we are being created by him to amuse and adore his status.  We can be unequal to God because what Man has accomplished God has not accomplished.  You can't take credit for what we've done."

"It is true.  And Man's civilisations have gathered.  We are powerful."

"Not only Man's but also ours."

    "Yes."

"What is your civilisation?  Global or Economic?"

"Neither, we are 'oh how have I' outshone the Global status in a hierarchy of pleasure neither economic we feel together it to be."

    "That sounds nice."

"It is.  We are descendants of ancient tribal people."

"Oh us too!  We go like all over the place."

    "Cool."

"What do you think of these five houses?"

"I am from Civilisations that are active right now."

"Welcome to our circle.  I am an Alien Civilisation in which as a thought experiment we refer to our whole species as I."

"Humans could adopt this practice as an acceptance of many values and belief systems which point to a sense of humour."

    "Interesting.  Try it."

"I, the Great Appreciation, actually lead other animals."

"Hi," said another stranger, "I'm a Global citizen."

"I see.  And what would a Global citizen know about a campfire in Canada, then?"

"There is much to be said for My Path is to advance us as citizens globally by transcending geological location to join the larger conversation of what we tolerate and how we can respond together on crisis circumstances."

"What would that require of people in your geographical locale to make location not the issue?  For I am sure you do what benefits you and not others."

"Trust me, my work benefits others.  That's why I am a Global citizen.  We make distance not the issue."

"How would you make distance not the issue?"

"The fire is closer; turn your face to its warmth."

"How would you say Global citizens deal with civilisations from planets other than Earth in a way that is different than citizens of a particular geographic location?"

"Global citizens of a particular geographic location?"

"Global citizens generally have a broader perspective of race and ethnicity that encompasses the whole planet.  As well as greater consideration for what happens when we interact as a planet toward another planet's civilisation."

"Did you know?  The largest civilisation in attendance tonight is a confederate of three planets on which intelligent life spontaneously arose independent of one another."

"I've never been on another planet."

"I have.  This is it.  I'm on it right now."

"A Universal civilisation with us to connect all of reality as one."

"How can such a thing be created?"

"That's what we're here to find out."

"Trade routes and such.  Not to give humans all of the technology they do not have yet, however."

"Yes.  And Representatives of Civilisations that have not come to be are here to tell us about their culture and possibly outhustle, outmuscle, outdo, outthink, outsell, outrank some of our current societies."

As people retired to a motorhome park and village that had been setup on the grounds of the pavilion or to their separate accommodations, the variety of beings at the fire slowly dwindled.  The temporary village had many food trucks and lanterns of different colors along the main road.  Demonstrations of science and magic were being performed, including a drag show of acuity well into the night.  Fairies with lentil clown noses entertained apart from smoking dens for alien pipe and tobacco enthusiasts.

The next day, some of the people were beginning to wake up to the smell of sour crout and perogies.  The sunlight twinkling through the leaves of poplars shone on their faces in their trailers, cabins, and motel rooms.

A Christiannan woman wearing a blue cloak with a hood walked through the village.  Large and enigmatic spacecraft were landed farther away, and the tents around the central concession were a variety of rainbow colors.  She ate a stack of free pancakes with syrup from the vendor, finding a picnic table to sit at and watch the crowd.  There were few demons, but they were pacified by the size of the event.  Sharp dressers, all of them.  Many tourists, the opposite of sharp dress, really, were uncoordinated as they hindered about.  Some had stopped to take a picture and the Christiannan was asked to take the photo for their group.

The press conference began at 10:00 AM the VIPs arriving in style to walk the Purple Carpet again.  For good measure they would walk on it three times over the course of a weekend, once each day; this was a form of subtle reminder that their duty to the conference would be valued in legal genesis.  Purple was the color of the law in Recreation.  And so now the stage had been set flat in the auditorium.  The five tables were arranged behind the podium, which stood center at the front of the stage.  Speaking first, the representative from the New Reciprocity introduced the five tables as wanting to start a new reciprocity with each other as a group of five with their own reciprocities of each other all.

"The scheduled Representatives of Civilisations that have ended couldn't be here to start the debate because their civilisations just ended.  The speaker from civilisations that are active right now will start."

The speaker from Civilisations that are active right now expressed emotional concern that the previous would-be speaking could not be in attendance.  He stopped speaking enthusiastically for a minute to express how it is always to come as a disturbance to hear that an entire civilisation has ended.  Whether by disappearance or division.  And that the Active Civilisations need not fear this disturbance because humanity had set a protocol to follow to preserve the cultural effects of old civilisations across the expanse of their intergalactic peace.  He pointed out the difference between the categories of Active Civilisations and Alien Civilisations.  Active Civilisations included humanity and Alien Civilsations did not include humanity.

And so after explaining this difference he revealed, including humanity, there were over a million active civilisations they had identified and that humanity would be integral in continuing to provide Universal support.  We need to support the allowance of a new universal reciprocity based on a self-selective system that allows civilisations to connect as universal inhabitants on a universal mission or not.  When they go on a mission they work together.  But not necessarily not to be in secret collusion outside of this system with other universal allies whose civilisations, much like humanity's relied on surprise when sharing.

If they wanted to work together outside the union for a time, to create a surprise for other civilisations, that was respected.

Elaborate sets had to be constructed for visitors that represented Alien Civilisations needed examples of how to interact with the species of Earth.

Next the speaker from Global versus Geological civilsations identified the estimated number of Geological or meta-geological civilisations on or around Earth.  There were none around it.  Yet.  The Global civilisation, the one demographic including Parrots as global sub-citizens and party to all inhabitants of Earth, was different than all meta- and sub-cultural civilisations.  The only difference was that it included all of them and each of their tribes, tribes of which did not include all of them and each of their tribes except themselves.

The need for distinction between Global civilisation and these separate geological locations addresses questions of how Global citizens are privileged among separate communities or vice versa.

There were two short presentations given by students after this, one representing the needs of Global city slickers citizenship, citizenry, and their tribes.  One representing the shared needs of all geological sites or locations of civilisations.  They argued.

"Separate tribes are native to their lands all across Earth.  We need those civilisations to mature by implementing sharing communities in which Global citizens with specific intersectionalities act in a cognitive space to be dispersed among people who do not use this cognitive space for any other than the purposes of presiding over others without consideration of Global civilisation."

"What my opponent refers to as presiding over never happens.  People, good people from communities all over Earth interact and maintain their separate cultural identities.  The need for a Global community is inexpressive of the Peoples and Cultures that already contain the answers we need globally."

Next our Alien Civilisations and how our thought experiments about them can help us with our own presented.

They pointed out that we already own a portion of their civilisation because we are programmed to own material portions of their cultures.  They told stories from their culture about sexual fantasies with alien sentient life including one involving a human.  Then they revealed that these suggestions were a method to produce thought experiments and that they had made it widely known that they were able to suggest exactly two.

First, the thought of owning something of another culture that exists very far away in space.  Generated questions about what ownership means to an alien species.  And second, that they could identify precise sexual fantasies belonging to their children who had recently matured at around the age of 70 (seventy) Earth years.  The thought experiments were meant to welcome visitors and candidates to explore their species and civilisations sexually.

There was a disruption in the auditorium when two humans started arguing about how long it would take to arrive there with their current scientific invention.  They were met with severe penalty, being removed from the auditorium (already on their way, it was mused).

When the Civilisations that have not come to be telekinetically advanced the theory that more recent civilisations (not new civilisations) were always superior to older civilisations because the more recent civilisations had possibly more information to draw from depending on what they had survived.  If they had survived extinction of all other life in the cosmos at some point, the older civilisations that had disappeared in the extinction still mattered.  But it was said to be good to presume that the recent civilisations in existance hadn't disappeared and were possibly older and more recent than any other civilizations to have been present.

It was a fine point, and not everyone got it.

The end of the conference was announced for the day and everyone returned to partying.  In the next day presentations in opposition to the Union of Civilisations would be given, in offense of this day which had defended it.

The first presentation in the third day of the venue was advanced to the starting position in correction of a civilisation that had ended during the conference.  And so presenting 'Civilisations that have ended Few alive mostly dead people' at 10:00 AM the recently disbanded argued that a Union of Civilisations was not possible at this time.  It would exclude new civilisations forming during the years in which a Union would not be meeting but that new civilisations would need to be able to join the Union at any time, even if they were the same people disbanding and re-banding their civilisations.  The representative pointed out that actually unifying all civilisations in a Universal effort was maybe impossible or it didn't matter.  The fact of All of the lost of civilisations whose memory may never be recovered had proven it.

When the representative of Active Civilisations spoke after that, he pointed out that the existance of lost civilsations may never actually be proven and so a round up of every civilisation they could discover was a mandate of the council the conference sought to install as humanity's bid on space exploration.  An effort.  At least to try to unify all universal powers.  To speak ill of their mandate was anti-union.  But they had to make an argument in opposition to the Union, as the rule of the conference entailed.

And so the Speaker said, a Union of Civilisation could not be universal because that was the Catholic claim to a right to piracy over other cultures.

The Christianna had been identified as a new religion proving theologically that homosexuality was not a sin.  Whose intention was a universe in which Union with aliens meant that a universal directive supported scientific claims and not old religious dogma.

Global versus Geo-locale candidates presented.  Giving testimony to both possibilities that either it was possible to round up all civilisations or not but what they needed to focus on was equality that an act of Union may compromise because all civilisations to be added to the compromise.  Would try to include all arrivals including far advanced species existing millions of years from now, whose interpretations of past civilisations would be so different.  And skewed from their own interpretation of civilisation could not carry the essence of memory forward.

The representative for Alien Civilisations agreed that a Union be attempted but pointed out they would be unaware whether it represented the first ever expression of a union of civilisations in the galaxies.  And so any breach or dis-bond from the act of union would not be legally presentable to other species of their own Unions if we continued to claim them as our own.  It was asked whether that was a hint from the representative, who responded.

"No.  I've never known of a Union of Civilisations before."

Last, the Civilisations that have not come to be disappeared from the conference in an effort to communicate their eternal gratitude for Union that would be in eventuality their own future and union of civilisations; and as a warning should it not play out that way.

A vote was called and all in attendance registered their vote with the matrix.

The act of Union passed unanimously and arrangements were made to introduce certain privileged individuals to one another's civilisations at a distance of light years.  Humans could not yet travel as far as advanced civilisations.  Ingenious attempts were made to set humanity with a global council of Union and sub-unions representing the development of embassy to these other cultures.  But in the end a single Union was credited with being the only one of its kind to advance the human spirit to aspire to the universal in a peaceful and non-seditious manner.
