Installed, chapter 5

A merman, with long white hair, whose mind was his primary tool, was however staying at the Coral Crystal Palace, in an underground coral reef below its coral-enmeshed towers.  In the depths of the ocean.  He was pacing, as goldfish do, for it appeared very foolish of him, his large muscular body, a scaly blue and vert (green) tail, swimming back and forth upright here upright there, and horizontal between points where he would reverse, flatten his body again and reach the other side of the room.  He was grumpy.  Mer cannot pace as mortal men do.  For we have tables all cloisters of pearls, gems, and diamonds.  He had to avoid these obstacles though without effort he did for they were.

Not in the centre of his chest.

There was a room at the top of the stairs beside one table wherein was stored coins of various metals.  And there was a vanity.

It was made of out pearl musk, with fine outer detailings and a large center mirror glowing white the borders; his appearance, he continued looking into it.

"I'm a merman!  I can't let this happen!" he said.  A man graced his presence.  For he wondered at what she was looking at, the window frame partially framed her silhouette.

His room was very strange, it thought, for there are only two walls, the other sides being entrances, made of the coral foundations just two entrances, therein leading into tunnels under the coral kingdom.  He took a ring out of a metallic vanity box guilded with red enamel.  The ring had a large flat face with a small precisely carved symbol in the centre lit at its centre by a glowing red LED.  He put it on.  It was a large ring, and he had large hands.

He went outside to where his dolphins were stabled.

One was a mother, and the other two were babies.  He put on his dragon's hide hat that was resting on the hook inside his stable.  The glow of his ring emotively transduced the baby dolphins, whose mother approved, signaling this with a very big smile.

    He fed them.

He fixed their defense system (an artificially intelligent guided turret) and their alarm system (a whale) then he like (what of?) thought probably happiness for the baby dolphins are safe and secure.  His gentle current of thought.

    Then finally he smiled.

    And it stayed there.

He went to dinner at Neon Clam's a snazzy little place where the waitresses wear glitzy fashion and the Shells are always open with his girlfriend stasis happening.  This was the type of place bedazzling you at every turn on your way to your table.  Jewels were played down, probably being plastic, and there were sculptures and art on the walls.  A warm ocean current convected about their table, bringing them heat.  Their view was of crustaceans, turtles, and fish.  Downtempo music was playing.  The glow of the neon letting above the door responsive to other specimens of ocean life at a distance of (of?) probably a mile above; like OMG.

He realised he was still wearing it.  The dragon's hide hat.  He hadn't meant to.  It probably looked neat, but he tried to play it off smoothly.

"How do you like my hat?" he said.

"Writheling," said his girlfriend, Algae, "you know I'll love you no matter what you wear."

"Let's order salad," he said, "bogs.  They get them from bogs, these frogs they put in the house salad."

They were video games to each other.  Driven to have people order them food while they waited.  Like a YouTube vlogger, but he's a blogger.  Like, tell me what kind of food you want me to try in the comments.

She of course knew they were probably traded for with the humans at a bustling port on the mainland.  For any mer folk on land had to man the driven hover water suspension vehicles that permit the travel of the gilled on land.

He splashed her with a force wave from his hand.  When it reached her face it was gentle.  She looked at him.  Turning her neck.  Her red hair centred.  Her snake-like eyes paradoxically united.  His eyelids turned pink from green and his tongue came out.

    It was a long tongue.

    His mouth opened wide.

He breathed, relieved to get his snake eyes expressed physically out.  She was a charm for him this way.

A dragon tail tickled his back because of her.

His ring stopped glowing.  She noticed first, but she covered his hand with her own so that he could not see it.  He would be sad about his dolphins.

"Writheling," he said to himself but he remembered no dream in which it was spoken.  If only to show public interest in the narrative of a gay man's paranoia about dating in public at his home there was a commanding apparition and on the inside of its gooey texture and on the inside of it, where I can't see what it holds.  What is it?  Disperse!

"Be saty-rated, my homie," said the cloud of ink for emerged from it a satyr wearing a merman with a red tail and a luxurious thick brown beard.

Don't be paranoid.  Don't be paranoid.

I can tell what is real from what is imaginary.

And I'm not paranoid about dating.

"Yes you are dude," said the merman, "that's why I'm here.  I'm your paranoia about dating.  Why don't you come over here and touch me before I lose my appetite for your groveling selfish ash.  Put it out.  You smoking queen."

"Get out.  Get out of my house!" he screamed.

"Like no dude.  You have to touch me.  I'm ginky," he wined.

He ran from the premises.  As fast as he was able to dodge around the apparition and make it down the stairs and out the front door.

What the fuck there's a gay man in the house so he can't be there because he's fucking gay.

    But he is there.

    I'm him.

Every time I'm not at home.  I am home.  I live there.  I'm gay.

And he woke from a hazy nap.
